Westerns…back in the olden days.

http://www.oldfortyfives.com/thoseoldwesterns.htm   You may have to copy and paste the link but it is so well worth the time.  Sitting here thinking about it the Westerns were rock solid the same. The good guy was a good guy and he was there week after week being the good guy. The bad guy was given justice. There was even times the bad guy would see the errors of his ways. He didn’t compromise he did what was right. The hero was written as a Hero. He had a mystique about him. He may had a shirt or hat like Hop along Cassidy, or a Mask like the Lone Ranger. He may even be dapper dressed with a walking cane like Batt Masterson. There was a scrawny little tooth pick of a kid on Rawhide and he was known as Roddy Yates. Start for Clint Eastwood. He might have had a huge hat to support like Hoss on Bonanza. But he had a head that would support it. Oh and the stories of conquering the west. The growing of a ranch. The families and the family loyalty as on the Virginian. That was what put Hollywood on the map.

So to the screenwriter in the family. Megan make the good guy the good guy and the bad man “sorry he done did a wrong” Make a caricature that would do anything for you like Walter Breannin and you will dazzle the movie industry and they will wonder where it came from.

Peace, love and happiness to all as this day unfolds before  us.

Hope you enjoy the western clip..

From the porch of the old farm stead as I look out onto the valley below with the mom cows grazing on the new grass and the sun breaking over yonder ridge. I think I am going to see if cooky has a cup of strong coffee and I”ll light me a bowl in my corn cob pipe and just enjoy whats out here in this grea creation God has Given us.  Sell you calfs before the market drops and we will check back with you again.    Papabear

SPRING FEVER

To day was the second day that we had that was in the high 50 degree and maybe even hit 60.  I have a pile of lumber and tools out in the car port so it takes some doing to get all the parts and pieces together. Today I built a stand that will hold two strarter flats for veggie seeds for the garden. Looked pretty cool and I used a new tool that helpped in the putting it together. I started working on picture frames. I have 8 things to get framed.  Yes Matt and Becca two are ones I was trying to get together for your wedding and did not turn out the way I wanted them to. So sanding them down and starting some new one. I was out side and I could feel the air was still cold and damp but the sun was shining and it was warming up.

I got really thoughty.Don’t know if that is a word but it means thinking a whole bunch.  Went we are youg we have a lot of energy time and no money or resources to get things done so you beg borrow and use others things to improve your plight.  Then you get a little older and you have a little money but now you have a lot of responisbilty and so you go trying to get  where you want. I then found myself with a family farm not enough time and money to make it work . So time progress? and now My health has done as perdicted years ago.  I find myself in a wheel chair. I had 38 years into Social Security and now I am blessed with a disability so I don’ t have to go to a job that I hurt at day and nite and  could not make it with out coming home and going right to bed and starting all over int he morning. But here I am again with one of the pieces of the puzzle but not able to have all the pieces to do the puzzle.

God whats the deal    Then again as times in the past I was shown all the blessings that I have that are not weighed with $$ yard stick and then as I sat on the porch with the sun warming my face I realized I need to take life as it comes and enjoy the day. No wonder there is a saying “stop and smell the roses.” Well now I am going to take the time to smell, look at and touch the thorns just so I can experience the whole rose.

I often wonder how can I love my “brother” meaning everybody around me. Well I can’t do that can’t love another person or thing. Well I have a real blessing in a visitor that comes and terrorized me for three days  a week  Roxy , sons Boston Terrier visits us while his Ben works. That little ball of dog has shown me that I can be loved  and love.  I sit and get anxious when I think it is getting time for her to come over. This morning Ben came in after shift and got Roxy and she showed me I love you but now I have to go  with Ben and love him, but I’ll be back .    No wonder St Francis of Assisi loved the animals they are more like Christ love than most man can be.  So Roxy.. going to have a good week and see you Sunday.  I am a better person for having known you. squirt…

So when you give yourself permission to be where you are at and to love more than you thought you could life changes.  Still have the aritheris pain and frustrations but they are a different shade .

Maybe some way some how this can let someone know who is in pain, furstration, some encouragement to make it day by day. Sometimes it is not real easy.

God Bless us all.

Inaguration day.

I did not vote for our President. I had the privilege as an American to watch the inauguration today. I am firmly behind our new President and I think he has the right idea to get things going. He has a task  coming from him at many angles. I believe he has the ability to put the people that are needed in the positions to handle these tasks. I hope that the spirit of hatred that has been around US  and Washington will go away and once again we can march forward as Americans. Two million people standing in the cold waving an American flag cannot be wrong.   I think that the road blocks and the indecision has been brought about and fostered by my part(Republicans) and I expect them to raise above this and work for solutions and not signs to had out tell everybody they are wrong.  I hope we can dig a deep hole and burry once and for all the”Old Guard” like Newt G. and come up with some new blood that will lead us.  We have been told to give the party the leads and they will take care of it. We did and their accomplishments were dismal. We reelected them again and they spent more, accomplished less than previous Congress. So they were swept out of office this last time and stood there scratching their head wondering were everybody went.  Congress do what it take to help the economy grow not the fat cat bankers and insurance companies. Get the economy so we can build houses, buildings, roads. Then there will be jobs for those plus jobs for the people making and servicing products used by all.

Get this nation off the idea we have to grow corn from sea to shiny sea. All this does is make the cost of other comodities go up causing the grain miller, the animal feeders, and all connected to pay more.  Example the price of wheat and soybeans. What good is it doing if the plants for ethonal are not built and if they are they are going bancrupt. What good is it if they produce a fuel that all we hear about how it doesn’t perform well in the winter time. Listen to Mr Pickens and harness the wind, sun, and natural gas that we have an abundace of.  Lets spend some money for fuel cell technology. Lets spend some money that will pay back in better use of our fuel sources and not send the money overseas to our enemies so they can fortify against us. Yes they are all our enemys in the Gulf. They pat us on the back and then go out and do atrosities towards their people and to us and when we say anything the look back with a smile and a sword behind their back.

Finally I am so proud to be an American. I am proud of the work my children and family are doing and have done to make the world a better place. To the many family that work in Corrections, to the nephew who served 23 years in the Navy. To my son in the National Guard and training along with a cousin to be in law enforcement. To my Daughter how wants to make  a positive impact in the entertainment industry. To the teachers in the family, the case workers the moms. they all are doing what needs to be done to leave a mark to make a change to make America a better place to live.

Thank  you for stopping and reading my post. I will look forward to comments.     May this day God look down on favor for each and every one of us.     Take care…..   Papabear.

I saw this quote today and now I don’t know where. But I wanted to put it on the blog.  So  who ever wrote this your pretty good.

We all have time machines. If it takes us into the past it is a memory. If it takes us into the future it is a dream.

Pretty cool.

I  did it… I was awake at midnight. That is a big deal for me. We have the nosiest neighborhood with guns, fireworks and somebody has a small cannon an you hear this deep boooooom. I usually jump out of bed and wonder who is shooting.  I woke up at 23:45.  Of coarse it is 2:00 and I can’t sleep so here I am blogging.

This next year is going to be a busy one for our family. Carol is looking for work so you can imagine how had that is going to be. Hope she can find a good part time job.  I am pretty well set into my disability and don’t need much, except reach that from the top shelf.  Big things are going to happen in the childrens lives and will keep them close and in prayer.

Carol and I start our 30 year married and we are still amazed at what comes our way.

A TOAST TO ALL…. HAVE A HAPPY,BLESSED AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR.  STOP BYE AND SEE US OFTEN AND HAVE FUN.

This is a short story that I wrote with a Christmas theme hope you enjoy.

Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous NEW YEAR.

A STRANGE LIGHT ON THE SIDE OF A HILL.

It happened in a camp in a back area against a group of hills. The Civil War had been grinding on and these could have been either North or Southern troops. They were in cold wet conditions and would probably spend most of the winter here. The food was not much but seemed to keep them going. They spent most of their time cutting firewood. The bigger the fire wood piles the bigger the fires. Most all the fires had a metal pot that had an inch of soot burned on in layers. Some had coffee some had a blend of ground nuts and coffee. The cooks were attending the stew pots. This would seem like an acceptable situation but there was a problem. There was a dark pall over this camp and many more. The war had ground on for the last 3 years and the men were wondering if the leaders had lost there way. They wondered if they were able to keep on this grinding. Not only the physical marching but the death and sickness that were everywhere was enough to knock any man to his knees.

It was getting dark the sun seems to set very early in this time of the year. Soon it was very dark. The officers had come through and assigned the guard rosters for the evening. There was not suppose to be any enemy in the area but as you stood guard it was another of those times that you could be shoot dead and not even know where the shoot came from.

The midnight guard left for their positions. The relief was made and they settled in for the watch. First half hour just had some varmints rustling through the undergrowth. This still was enough to scare you half to death. The next hour and a half was cold, quiet and hard to stay awake.

Then it started on the hill to the east up a small draw there was a light. This was not a campfire or a lantern. It was like lighting blue light was coming from the draw. The guards both grabbed their guns but they were not able to move for fear. This was light they had never seen before. They were not even sure they could tell anyone what was happening. The light was like it was coming from a cave in the hill. It was very intense and flickering. It did not seem to light up the whole area just this one pin point spot. It was decided that they should check it out. So they took off by foot and the closer they got the more there was a warm feeling came over them and the sense of fear seemed to leave. About 20 yards away they could see some other small lights dancing above the entrance to the cave. These littler lights seemed to be happy and dancing around. The training they had kicked in and they approached the cave with their bayonet fixed and rifle out front. They got to the entrance of the cave and froze. Before them were two figures. These figures were the ones as bright as lightning. The man was tall and rugged looking with a walking stick that he leaned on very heavily. The Lady was even brighter and she pulled back the hem of her cape and in her lap was a BABY it was small and a halo was around His head and was the whites gold they had ever seen. The lady who was obviously Mary said “He has come to bring Peace” The men were so overwhelmed they were knocked 10 feet on their backs. When they came to the lights were gone.

They heard a voice call and it was their relief. “What going on?”

“We thought we da dwill they could not talk.”

“OK go get some coffee.”

The new sentries took up their place and settled in for the watch. It wasn’t a half hour and the light from the draw to the east came up. They were shocked out of their minds. They ran up the hill and the same thing happened to them. They entered the cave and saw the Man and Woman Again the Woman pulled back her cape and the baby was there and she said “He has come to bring Peace” Again they were knock back as if they were paper dolls. They ran back to their post and could not talk they tried and could not talk at all.

They were relieved and ran to the camp tent with the guards they had relieved. They were around the fire and they could not talk either. The second groups of sentries were not having any better luck communicating. One made a sign to go to the Captains tent. All the others shook their heads
“NO”

The confusion was overwhelming and frustrating.

Suddenly one of them jumped up and ran down the row of tents and when and got his bible and came back and hurried tried to turn the pages with out ripping them out one by one. Then he came to this passage and was able to read.

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child, 6While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

The Shepherds and the Angels

8And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ[a] the Lord. 12This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

13Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14″Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”

15When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

16So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen which were just as they had been told.

They could not explain it but they realized they had an encounter with the

“KING OF KINGS”

“PRINCE OF PEACE”.
